Product Description

Hand-painted white flowers with yellow centers and green leaf accents cover the dish and spoon. The dish has a scalloped wavy rim, bulbous textured exterior, and glossy white porcelain finish. Matching spoon has the floral motif on the handle and bowl. Elinor Ferrell? signature in gold and green script on the dish bottom. Pre-owned, like new, no defects. The bottom of the condiment bowl features a faint, hand-written signature in gold or green script that reads "Elinor Ferrell". • What it means: This is the signature of a hobbyist porcelain painter rather than a commercial factory stamp. • The Backstory: In the mid-to-late 20th century (especially the 1960s through the 1980s), china painting was an incredibly popular artisan hobby. Hobbyists would purchase plain, unadorned porcelain blanks imported from Europe or Asia, hand-paint their own intricate floral designs at home or in specialized studios, sign their names on the bottom, and fire them in local community kilns.
